The DFER Staff - Chief of Staff Brienne Bellavita
Brienne joined Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) in the Fall of 2007. With a passion for public service, and a deep understanding of the political and policy worlds, Brienne's focus is to help build up the organization's programs promoting proven education reform policies and supporting local, statewide, and national champions of public education reform.Prior to her work at DFER, Brienne worked as an Investigator for the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board, where she investigated allegations of police misconduct. As a civil servent, she developed the applied skills necessary to deliver on public sector challenges and gained invaluable experience working with many segments of the population.
In 2004 Brienne lived in London, England, where she served an internship in the British Parliament. She was selected to work for Keven McNamara, MP, a member of the Labour Party in the House of Commons. In 2003 Brienne worked as an Assistant to the Town Councilmen in North Hempstead, New York.
Brienne graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political Science and Philosophy. Her philosophy study earned her special distinction from the University. While at the University of Rochester, Brienne served on the boards of the College Democrats and of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority.
Brienne currently resides in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
